About McKenna Prince Music Studio

Am I The Right Teacher For You?

I was tempted to say there is no such thing as “The right teacher”, but my experience teaches me that every student needs a teacher who cares. More than anything else, I care about your success as a music student. Since music also teaches you useful life skills, I, therefore, care about your intellectual development. No matter your age or your status in society, you can do wonderful things with your music skills. Stay motivated while being patient with yourself. Music can help you strengthen your self-esteem, harmonize with nature, and bring joy into people’s lives.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, I do.

I teach students of all ages.

The younger the better. However, starting at the age of 5 proves to be the best choice because children younger than 5 years old struggle to maintain their focus.

The optimal time for children to start learning the piano is between five and eight years old. For youth and adults, it’s more flexible; you can start learning whenever you want or are available.

Yes, I offer a free 30-minute trial lesson. I charge a $25 fee for 45-60 minute lessons. I don’t have a specific day for trial lessons, so feel free to reach out to me to schedule one!

Rather than fluctuating costs based on how many lessons fall in a given month, a monthly tuition model ensures your spot is reserved on the teaching schedule and encourages regular attendance and commitment.

I teach in-person lessons. I have found this to be more helpful for myself and my students in technique corrections and intonation.

This is determined based on your skill level. For beginners, a thirty-minute lesson is plenty. For intermediate and advanced, I suggest a 45-minute lesson at least! But you may also need an hour.

You may choose to have your money refunded to you any time during the current month, or we will take it off of next month’s payment.

I prefer to have parents attend lessons with their child/children. When parents attend lessons or sit in on them, students are more likely to practice the way we discussed at lessons and work on the things assigned to them during lessons.

My Story and My WHY

I first became interested in music as a child. My mother would sit at the piano and play songs we sang along to. This was something I enjoyed very much. My mother decided she wanted to learn the violin, and I begged to learn with her. She surprised my sister and me with violins and lessons we could all take together when I was six years old. When I turned eight, my mother started to give me piano lessons. I was so excited about being able to learn that I was up at 6 am, sitting at the piano, ready for my first lesson. Those two years were the start of my musical journey.

I have always loved music, although I didn’t always love practicing at first. Everything changed when I began studying with teachers who inspired me. Their guidance helped me develop a deep appreciation for practice and a desire to learn as much as I could from them. As a youth, I had friends who also enjoyed music, and we would often find different arrangements to play together and travel around to play for different events, mostly in church and school settings. I started teaching music lessons at 14 years old. Since then, I have developed a love for teaching and seeing my students grow and progress with their instruments.

Coming from a family with limited resources, my mother often traded services so my siblings and I could study with quality teachers. Their generosity and commitment made a lasting impact on me. Today, I strive to pay that forward by offering accessible, high-quality music instruction that empowers students to pursue their own musical dreams.
