Terms and Policies for McKenna Prince Music Studio

This agreement outlines the terms and policies for lessons at McKenna Prince Music Studio between the Instructor and the student. These terms and policies are subject to change at the discretion of McKenna Prince Music Studio. Students and parents will be notified of any significant updates.

Instructor: McKenna Prince Lesson Fees and Payment

Lessons are billed monthly, not per lesson. Monthly tuition is $75 for half-hour lessons, $80 for 45-minute lessons, and $85 for hour lessons. This fee covers weekly lessons, including (when applicable) a fifth lesson day, and monthly fees do not change whether there is a 5th lesson during the month or not.

Payment is due on or before the first lesson of each month. Late payments may incur a $10 late fee. No refunds will be given for missed lessons unless canceled by the Instructor. Missed lessons by the Instructor may be refunded at any time, or the student may choose to have the fee drawn off the next monthly payment.

Payments can be made via check, cash, or Venmo @McKenna-CreagerPrince.Sibling Discount Policy

Families with more than one child enrolled in McKenna Prince Music Studio will receive a 15% discount on tuition for each additional child. The discount will be applied to the tuition of the second (and any additional) child as long as all enrolled siblings remain active. For example (using half-hour lesson prices), Child 1 would be $75/month, Child 2 (or more) would be $63.75/month ($75 – 15%). The 15% discount is automatically applied to each additional child after the first, so every child beyond the first receives the same price discount. Multi-Instrument Discount Policy

Learning more than one instrument is a great way for students to deepen their musical skills, stay motivated, and explore new creative directions. To encourage and support multi-instrument learning, we offer a special $20 off discount for students who take lessons on two instruments each week.

Trial Lessons

New students are eligible for one trial lesson before committing to monthly lessons. The trial lesson is free and lasts approximately 30 minutes. A 45-minute or 1-hour trial lesson has a fee of $25. After the trial lesson, the student will be enrolled in regular monthly lessons under the terms of this agreement, assuming both parties agree to continue Attendance and Cancellations.

Consistent attendance is important for student progress. Please arrive on time. Lessons will not be extended for late arrivals. If the student must miss a lesson, a 24-hour notice is required to be eligible for a makeup lesson, subject to the instructor’s availability. No shows or cancellations with less than a 24-hour notice will be forfeited and not rescheduled. Practice Requirements

Students are expected to practice regularly between lessons. Suggested practice is 30 minutes per day, 5 days a week. Students who take 45-minute/hour lessons per week have a suggested practice of an hour per day, five days a week. Lack of practice or progress may result in the Instructor re-evaluating the student’s continuation in the program. If a student remains on the same piece for more than three consecutive weeks without noticeable progress, the Instructor reserves the right to terminate lessons. Discontinuation of Lessons

The Instructor may discontinue lessons at any time for reasons including, but not limited to: lack of practice, consistent missed lessons, or non-payment. The student (parent/guardian) may discontinue lessons with a two-week written notice. No refunds will be issued for partial months. Materials and Instruments.

Students are expected to have their instrument in good working condition and all required lesson materials (books, sheet music, etc.). Required Materials for Violin Students

  1. Method and Lesson Books: Students will begin with materials selected based on age and skill level, including:
    • Suzuki Violin School (Volumes 1 and up)
    • I Can Read Music (Volume 1) by Joanne Martin – for note reading and rhythm development
    • Solos for Young Violinists – assigned as students’ progress
  2. Violin and Bow: A properly sized violin and bow are required. Instruments should be rented or purchased from a reputable string shop (although you can find good ones on Facebook Marketplace) to ensure quality and appropriate sizing.
  3. Bow Buddy (Beginners Only): Beginner students will need a Bow Buddy to support proper bow hold and hand position.
  4. Bow Rosin: All students must have their own rosin for daily use to ensure good tone quality.
  5. Shoulder Rest or Sponge: A shoulder rest (e.g., Kun, Everest) or sponge is required to support correct playing posture and comfort.
  6. Notebook or Assignment Book: Used for tracking weekly assignments, lesson notes, and teacher-parent communication. This is provided for you by the studio. Please bring it to every lesson.
  7. Tuner and Metronome: A clip-on tuner and metronome (or a tuning/metronome app) are recommended for home practice.
  8. Music Stand: A sturdy music stand is needed for practicing at home with proper posture.

Items can be found on Amazon; however, better deals for required books have been found at Ferguson’s Violin Store (located in Rexburg) or Chesbro’s (located in Idaho Falls by the Idaho Falls Public Library).
